The British invented curry! Well maybe just the word, curry is actually Kari in India and was introduced to the world by the British East India Trading Co. in the mid 17th century, good thing they did because you probably wouldn't be reading this if they didn't! Madras refers to this southern region in India, the main spice growing region of Kerala. Where they like it hot, and this paste is for those who like it a little hotter than others!
Beef Madras Curry Recipe (Serves 3):
4 tbsp Rani® Madras Curry Paste
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 medium onion
250g diced beef
200ml chopped tomatoes
100ml water
In medium size pan gently heat oil and fry onion.
Stir in Rani® Madras Curry Paste and diced beef, cook for 3 minutes until meat is sealed.
Add tomatoes and water, mix well and cover pan, simmer on a low heat for 40 minutes until meat is cooked.
Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve with hot rice or naan bread.
