Gently worn, patina'd leather. Honey finished solid wood assembly frame. Originally designed by London Army & Navy purveyors for Imperial Army officers on the move. Legs and frame rolled up inside the canvas seat, or if luxury was called for, leather. Then in the 1920's taken by European settlers of the Argentina pampas, it became the gaucho's stock fo trade. Aged ones now populate living rooms of haciendas in Argentina and Uruguay. Designed to function on uneven footing, their flexibility surprises. Guess being on a horse all day made gauchos appreciate the gentle movement of this truly magical chair with a macho provenance.
