He is holding an elephant goad, noose, his broken tusk he used to write the Mahabharata epic and a laddu. His trunk is facing the left actively trying to get to the laddu, Ganesha's favorite sweet! If Ganesha's trunk turns to the his left, that is the direction for success in the world. It is a position associated with grihastas, or householders. He has a cobra belt around his expansive belly. His belly said to carry within it the entire universe. The cobra is a reference to his father, Shiva, whom is associate with the deadly snakes. Ganesh wears loose fitting pants with only a myriad of jewelry on his bare chest. His eyes are open and caring. He wears a beautifully detailed crown.
