Yet, when we looked around, we realized that curtains available in India were rather uninspiring. The market was flooded with unremarkable fabrics, harsh palettes and boring designs; the only good ones were exorbitant. We wanted to design the kind of curtains we would use in our own homes but could not find here, ones that reflected a global aesthetic and yet were rooted in the Indian context. And thus, Tranquebar was born.At the heart of each Tranquebar curtain is style, creativity and a meticulous eye for detail. Each curtain is designed to last, is made only with superior quality fabrics and involves many hours of skilled workmanship. Whether your taste runs quietly neutral or bold and bright, our wide selection offers just the right drapes to suit your home.The Tori Curtains:Inspired by a 16th century Japanese illustration of a bird of paradise, the ?Tori Curtains bring a new twist to the Kashmiri Chinar. These curtains lend a natural, airy look to any space, and are perfect for living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, studies, and kids? rooms. Crafted with high quality, 300 TC cotton fabric, their thickness is just right, allowing a moderate amount of light to enter. All our curtains are pre-shrunk, and are machine or hand washable at low temperature.As a general guide, for proper fullness, curtains should measure 2-3 times the width of your window/door.
