Guggul also known as guggulu, commiphora mukul, is an oleo-gum resin made from the sap (gum resin) of the commiphora mukul tree (mukul myrrh tree) which is native to india. guggul which translates to protector in ayurveda, has been used in ayurvedic medicine for centuries and ayurvedic texts recommend it for its numerous health benefits. guggul is also the basic ingredient for an entire class of traditional ayurvedic formulas known as guggulus. other traditional ayurvedic health supplements that contain guggul as an active ingredient include gokshuradi guggulu, kaishore guggulu, kanchanar guggulu, triphala guggulu and yogaraj guggulu.
