The beautiful goddess Lakshmi carrying a lamp in her hands is known as Deepa Lakshmi. This style of sculpture was originally made for the Diwali festival's puja ceremony when candles are needed. Lakshmi holds a offering plate lamp in her two hands. She has two parrots perched atop both her shoulders. She is wearing beautiful detailed cloths and jewelry. She has a triangle shaped head dress that is typical of mother Devi in this form. It is possible to fill the lamp with a small portion of oil and a small wick and light the wick to make a candle. This sculpture is typical placed at entry ways or flanking both sides of a home altar.
